THE GOSPEL (also known as the “good news” or “evangel”) is a life-changing message for anyone willing to respond. It’s a message intended for everyone – with no exceptions. There are three things you need to know:
- Jesus suffered and died on a cross so you can be forgiven for every wrong thing in your life – past and present. Result: You can enjoy a new freedom in this life and for eternity if you surrender your life to Jesus’ guidance and control.
- Jesus returned to life (the “resurrection”) from being completely dead, by the power of God, to prove he had (and still has) authority over death and hell. Result: The same power that raised him from death to life, can give you a special quality of life now and also raise you to eternal life when you die – if you have given your life to Jesus.
- Jesus will soon return to earth – as divine judge with all authority in heaven and on earth. Result: Most people assume heaven is our default destination. In fact, the opposite is true. To access heaven and eternal life, we need to pro-actively choose to accept the offer of forgiveness and eternal life in Jesus. We need to ‘repent’ (admit our wrong-doing/sin) and give ourselves to God’s purposes. God’s advice is, “Choose life”.
Your new life – it’s as easy as A,B,C
A. ADMIT your need of God. Tell God you know you have rebelled from his way, and that you are willing to turn back to him.
B. BELIEVE that Jesus Christ died for you and has the power to forgive you and give you a new start.
C. COMMIT your life to Jesus Christ. Tell him you give him control of your life and ask him to give you his Spirit to live in you and help you grow as a Christian.
A simple prayer of commitment
“Dear God, I admit that I have done wrong by not living my life your way. I ask Jesus Christ to come into my life. Forgive me, receive me, make me your child, fill me with your Holy Spirit to help me follow you. I commit my life to you. Amen.”
We recommend you attend a church that loves God, loves the Bible, and is friendly.
